The Machine Operator ensures press operation according to the daily production schedule. S/He has knowledge of basic knowledge of machine operations and ensures production is happening both safely and efficiently.

Reports To:
Department Supervisor
Hours:
Monday through Friday
1st shift - 7:00am - 3:30pm
2nd shift - 3:30pm - 12:00am
- Ensures press is prepared and operating safely prior to the start of each shift.
- Conducts a quality check during pre-run prior to implementing the daily production schedule; ensures transfer arm is working and there are no machine maintenance or tooling issues.
- Continuously assesses product quality and relays issues to supervisors.
- Troubleshoots small technical issues as they occur; communicates issues to supervisor, maintenance, and/or tool room as needed.
- Reviews daily production notes from previous shift; prioritizes and makes schedule adjustments as necessary, communicating to supervisor.
- Completes production schedule from previous shift as necessary prior to beginning new schedule.
- Reviews production schedule with Stam Tech, verifies needs, and communicates staffing requirements to supervisor.
- Works with supervisor to assign staff to press/line positions.
- Changes machine dies as required for production.
- Monitors coil loads and notifies lift truck drivers when supply is running low.
- Trains new employees on machine operations regularly.
- Packs products directly off the line onto pallets and into boxes.
- Programs the machine’s computer as needed to meet production goals.
- Is reliable and punctual in reporting for work as scheduled.
- Maintains professionalism at all times.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Ability to multi-task and meet production deadlines

- Self-motivated and solid work ethic
- Ability to read a micrometer, tape measure, and calipers
- Basic math skills required
- High school diploma preferred
- Experience driving a lift truck preferred
- Experience with tooling, stamping, and transfer systems preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Continuous standing for the entire shift
- Frequent bending, pushing, and pulling
