POSITION SUMMARY – CONTROLLERThe Controller is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting and finance operations. Reporting to executive leadership, the Controller provides strategic financial guidance, ensures accurate reporting, maintains compliance with GAAP and internal controls, and drives process improvements. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented leader capable of balancing daily operations with short-term and long-term strategic initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILIITES- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close, pricing and special projects
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Management of 7 direct reports
- Develop, monitor, and report on key financial metrics to support business decision‑making
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and insurance providers as needed
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, promoting cross‑training and professional growth
- Monitor workload distribution and provide coaching to ensure team effectiveness
- Foster a collaborative, transparent, and results‑oriented accounting department
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and warehouse management to provide financial insights and analysis
- Assist with pricing strategies, contract evaluation, and vendor negotiations
- Oversee sales commissions, billing accuracy, and permit‑holder sales reconciliation
- Identify and implement process improvements for increased efficiency and accuracy
- Leverage accounting systems and software to optimize workflow and reporting capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or consumer goods industries is a plus
- Proficiency with accounting software, Excel, and financial reporting tools
