Paralegal

Job Description

A housing authority is seeking a Paralegal to support the Legal Services Department with litigation, landlord tenant law, and document control. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Conduct research of federal, state, local statutes, records decisions, legal articles, legal codes, other legal sources, and reference materials
• Implement and administer eviction and general litigation dockets in support of legal staff
• May assist preparing legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, affidavits, legal documents, briefs, contracts, reports for review, approvals, and signatures used by attorneys
• File legal documents with local courts and recorder’s office
• Assist in preparing documents, exhibits, and pleadings for litigation; may review documents on behalf of attorney
• Prepare legal descriptions for Declaration of Trust, and prepare real estate documents for home ownership program
• Notarize legal documents as necessary

• Must have, at the minimum, an Associate's degree
• Must have 2 years Paralegal experience with a license
• Must have the ability to accurately conduct research of federal, state, and local statutes
• Must be able to assist preparing legal pleadings, motions, affidavits, legal documents, briefs, contracts, and reports
• Must have excellent organizational, customer service, communication, and telephone skills
• The ability to multi-task while maintaining schedules is extremely important
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced office environment while paying a high attention to detail
• Must be professional at all times
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19
