Court Reporter
The Court Reporter is responsible for the accurate and detailed recording and transcription of court proceedings.
Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Prompt attendance at all scheduled court assignments.
- Accurately records verbatim stenograph proceedings at 225 wpm.
- Reads back requested text during court proceedings.
- Reads steno note files into Computer Aided Transcription (CAT) system from Data SD memory card.
- Maintains daily copies of docket sheets.
- Secures and files all exhibits marked and admitted into evidence in court proceedings.
- Prepares transcripts upon request of the Court and all parties, and pro se litigants according to established procedure.
- Edits and proofreads all transcripts to ensure accuracy of the record.
- Verifies accuracy of citations and reads from source books quotations cited in typed transcripts.
- Invoices all parties requesting transcripts where applicable.
- Provide quality service that continuously improves, that meets or exceeds public expectations, and that ensures all are treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect.

Minimum QualificationsKnowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of generally accepted office practices, procedures, and equipment; proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling, legal and specialized terminology; and courtroom procedures.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to operate and learn to operate necessary computer and other equipment.
Education and/or Experience
Associate’s Degree in Court and Conference Reporting or Court Reporter Certificate. Two years of court reporting experience. Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification preferred.
Supplemental InformationPhysical Demands
Continuous sitting, continuous repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and finger motion; frequent bending and twisting at the neck or trunk; and frequent eye‑hand coordination.

In accomplishing the responsibilities of this position, the Court expects that the employee will adhere to the mission and values of the Court as well as all Court policies and procedures. In addition, while carrying out the duties of this position, the employee is expected to model high ethical conduct on and off the job and exhibit a professional and respectful demeanor with all Court employees.
Qualified applicants may be required to submit to testing and provide writing samples. Proof of education and employment references will be required before final interview. Employment predicated upon successful completion of criminal record check and drug testing required. You will be considered a probationary employee for your first 180 days of employment.
