The Property & Casualty Claims Consultant serves as a strategic advocate for clients throughout the lifecycle of complex property, general liability, auto, and workers’ compensation claims. This role partners closely with clients, carriers, and internal service teams to drive favorable claim outcomes through expert consultation, independent judgment, and proactive problem-solving. As a subject matter expert, the Claims Consultant provides pre-claim guidance, post-loss advocacy, and ongoing education to both clients and internal teams, ensuring coverage is properly applied and client interests are fully represented.

This role plays a critical advisory function by interpreting policy language, negotiating with carriers, and developing action plans to achieve optimal claim resolution while delivering a best-in-class client experience.

A Day in the Life
  • Serve as the primary claims advocate for assigned clients, independently assessing claim strategy, coverage application, and next steps to drive favorable outcomes.
  • Consult with clients and internal service teams on property, general liability, auto, and workers’ compensation claims, providing insight on coverage, exposure, and claim resolution strategies.
  • Develop and execute claim action plans by coordinating with carriers, adjusters, legal partners, and service providers.
  • Provide pre-claim consultation and immediate post-loss support, including coverage interpretation, claim reporting oversight, and vendor/service provider referrals.
  • Lead client claim review meetings, carrier meetings, and on-site visits to assess claim status, reserves, and recovery opportunities.
  • Communicate claim progress, strategic recommendations, and potential risks to clients and Producers/Client Executives, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
  • Analyze claims data and trends to support negotiations with carriers and inform proactive loss mitigation strategies.
  • Educate internal Sales Executives and Client Managers on property & casualty claims processes, coverage considerations, and evolving industry trends.
  • Maintain accountability for claims through conclusion, ensuring coverage is applied accurately and client objectives are met.
  • Build and sustain strong professional relationships with clients, carriers, adjusters, and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service through responsiveness, empathy, and problem resolution.
  • All other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience handling property & casualty claims with an insurance carrier, third-party administrator (TPA), or brokerage.
  • Advanced knowledge of property & casualty insurance policies, coverage language, and claims handling practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex policy provisions and apply coverage to real-world claim scenarios.
  • Proven experience negotiating with insurance carriers and adjusters to drive client-focused outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial information, claim reserves, and exposure.
  • Ability to independently prioritize work, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple complex claims simultaneously.
