We are seeking a Principal Business Systems Analyst to objectively evaluate, deconstruct, and redesign the operational systems that govern our Technology Service Delivery, Core Business Systems, and IT Operations.

This is a high-leverage role for an evidence-driven, systems-minded principal. You will be tasked with identifying structural misalignment, tooling failures, and costly process breakage within the technology lifecycle, ensuring that IT effectively and efficiently enables the business. Your purpose is to find the most direct, simplest, and most compliant path for our Technology organization to achieve its service and efficiency objectives.

This role evaluates the entire technology operation—from how applications are supported and services are provisioned to managing vendor performance and tool integration—by breaking down technology goals into measurable, integrated systems and identifying precisely where people, processes, tools, or incentives are misaligned.

Key Responsibilities
  • IT Process Deep-Dive Analysis: Independently assess existing workflows across core IT domains (e.g., Application Support, Infrastructure Provisioning, ITSM, and Technology Procurement), mapping current-state processes end-to-end to identify handoffs, latency, compliance gaps, and critical bottlenecks.
  • Root Cause Analysis & Deficit Definition: Conduct structured interviews with IT Engineering, Operations teams, Business Systems owners, and external technology vendors to validate assumptions and spot inconsistencies between stated objectives, measured performance (SLAs/OLAs), and actual delivery behavior.
  • Metrics & KPI Rationalization: Evaluate existing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), metrics, and reporting within the IT organization. Define the critical measurements that accurately reflect the health of our services and systems, distinguishing useful signal from measurement noise.
  • IT Systems & Tooling Evaluation: Analyze the effectiveness and integration points of major technology platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, ITSM, Monitoring tools). Evaluate how technology policies and business incentives are enforced (or corrupted) by the architecture and configuration of these systems.
  • Vendor and Service Optimization: Act as the objective, credible analyst for evaluating the performance of external technology vendors and contractors, using factual data and process analysis to drive service level improvements and optimize costs.
  • Strategic Recommendation & Road mapping: Develop structured, data-backed recommendations that propose specific changes—including elimination, replacement, or redesign—to IT processes, organizational structure, or core supporting technology.
  • Executive Communication: Deliver findings and logical roadmaps in a calm, factual, and organized manner to VP and CIO-level executives, ensuring transparency on where system failures originate and how they can be systematically fixed.
The Background We're Looking For

The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in deconstructing and optimizing complex, cross-functional IT and Business Systems operations and has a demonstrated track record of making recommendations that fundamentally change how the Technology organization operates.

  • Experience: Proven track record of progressive experience as a Senior/Principal Analyst, IT Strategy Leader, Technology Business Partner, or an Operations-focused Management Consultant working extensively within the IT or Tech organization.
  • Systems-Minded

    Experience:

    You have a history of evaluating operational performance where multiple IT variables intersect (e.g., ITIL processes, technology stacks, compliance requirements, security standards, and operational budgets).
  • Influence, Not Authority: Must have a proven history of influencing significant technology and operational decisions based on evidence and logical rigor, rather than purely managing technology projects.
  • Structured Thinking: Highly proficient in process mapping (current vs. future state), root cause analysis, and applying systems thinking to evaluate the interdependencies within the technology landscape.
