Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.
Job Summary
The Team Lead, Biorepository is responsible for the sample management and storage activities for contract research organizations, pharmaceutical sponsors, academic institutions, and affiliated laboratories. Sample management includes receipt, processing, storage, retrieval, shipment, and destruction of specimens related to clinical trials. Additionally, employees are responsible for workspace sanitation, writing incident forms, and working towards corporate goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs the biorepository associates by coordinating workflow and daily operations of the biorepository. Daily operation tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Specimen storage at all temperatures
- Ordering necessary storage codes
- Pulling and QCing specimens for shipments
- Preparing inventory reports
- Biorepository housekeeping tasks such as freezer scraping, alarm testing, maintenance of supplies, and cooler checks
- Sample check-in/chain-of-custody management
- Protocol trainings/meetings and subsequent staff training
- Sample reconciliation projects
- Resolving sample discrepancies found by other BRS Associates
- Client (internal and external) communications
- Supervises and coordinates storage associate responsibilities
- Works in conjunction with various departments to assure sample management requirements for each protocol are met
- Non-conformance reporting and investigations
- Supports BRS Manager and serves as back-up as needed
- Other duties as required by management
Education and Experience
- At least one of the following:
- BA/BS, preferably in laboratory science, health science, or business field
- Associates degree with 2 years of Clinical Research, Central Lab, and/or other relevant experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in place of a degree
- Experience serving in a supervisory or lead role of a team of comparable size and/or function preferred.
- Medical Laboratory Technician and/or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
Skills and Ability
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and/or procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to budget management and metrics analysis
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new computer systems.
