About Cleveland Rape Crisis Center

Cleveland Rape Crisis Center (CRCC) supports survivors of rape and sexual abuse, promotes healing and prevention and advocates for social change. CRCC was founded in 1974 in response to Cleveland’s long-standing need for services to assist survivors of sexual assault. CRCC offers services in Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga and Lake counties such as legal advocacy, case management, and therapy services. We also do education and outreach work to educate the community on sexual violence and human trafficking prevention.

Position

Summary

The Trauma Therapist provides individual and group therapeutic services to Human Trafficking survivors and sexual violence survivors, as well as to non-offending family members, guardians, and other close supporters. The Trauma Therapist has a minimum productivity requirement and is expected to independently manage a caseload to ensure that all clients receive timely services. The Trauma Therapist has experience with trauma survivors, co-occurring disorders, and substance use treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary therapy for survivors of sexual violence, non-offending family members, partners, guardians or loved ones of all ages; co-facilitate survivor support groups
  • Understand and respect each individual’s unique path to recovery and have knowledge about substance use disorders, principles of motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and community resources
  • Provide consultation and education to survivors of sexual violence, non-offending family members, guardians, or loved ones and work with the family to connect them to appropriate support services in the community
  • Engage guests and clients in a supportive manner, encouraging discussion and activities focused on building trust and recovery
  • Employ strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments and program expectations and are culturally appropriate
  • Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (e.g. communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the individual’s goals and interests
  • Employ strategies for engagement with survivors of trafficking that allow for building rapport and trust slowly over time
  • Floor coverage
  • Assist with donation
  • Assist individuals in identifying barriers and work with them to develop and implement strategies to overcome them
  • Assist individuals in developing their own plan for advancing their recovery
  • Work closely with all therapeutic services and multidisciplinary team members to identify the needs of clients and their support systems
  • Complete data collection, data entry, and required reports and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with program timelines and standards
  • Maintain productivity expectations, which may change based on the goals of the agency
  • Effectively coordinate client care with other service providers and community resources to ensure continuity of care

Education, Experience, Licenses, & Certifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Services, Counseling, Art Therapy and/or a related field
  • One of the following valid OH licenses:
    • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
    • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
  • 2+ years of direct clinical/therapy experience
  • 2+ years of experience with survivors of sexual violence
  • Prior experience in the field of substance use preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • May consider an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training to meet the essential functions of the position
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $55,000 - $68,000
