OverviewUniversity Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center (UH‑SCC) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) invite you to join our esteemed Department of Radiation Oncology at our main campus in beautiful Cleveland, OH. This full-time position offers a unique blend of clinical excellence, research opportunities, and educational engagement, all within a collaborative and supportive environment.
We are seeking a motivated, independent individual who thrives both within a team and independently. Responsibilities include routine quality assurance, treatment planning support, and specialized procedures like TBI, TSEI, HDR, SBRT, linac-based SRS, and online adaptive radiotherapy. Research prospects are extensive, with access to the Varian True Beam research machine with Hypersight and ongoing collaborations with several other companies in the coming year.
Teaching opportunities include involvement in physician and physics resident didactic courses, mentoring medical physics residents, and guiding dosimetry and therapy students. Additionally, the development of a medical physics program through Case Western Reserve University is in progress.
The Department of Radiation Oncology at UH‑SCC/CWRU consists of 20 physicians, 20 physicists, 7 physician residents, 4 physics residents, 15 dosimetrists, and 40 therapists. Major treatment equipment includes Varian and Elekta linacs, three Elekta HDR units, one Gamma Knife and a single‑room Mevion Proton Therapy Unit. Construction has started for a Varian Ethos which will go live summer of 2024, and a new Varian Edge will start treating linac based SRS at main campus next month.
The full range of radiation oncology service includes 3D‑CRT, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, TBI, TSEI, HDR and Proton Therapy. Major software includes Ray Station TPS, Elekta Mosaiq OIS, MIM, and Rad Calc.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in physics, engineering, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, including residency
- Must demonstrate effective organization, written, and oral communication skills
- Experience with one specialized treatment modality such as adaptive radiotherapy, HDR, or proton therapy is desired but not required
- Interest in research and development is preferred but not required
