Premier Physicians is currently seeking aPart timeorPRNMedical Technologist/Medical lab Technician to work days and or afternoons as needed.Reports to:
Laboratory ManagerResponsible for efficient and accurate performance of laboratory testing/reporting and assisting Laboratory Manager in day to day laboratory operations.Our growing group practice encompasses internal and family medicine, medical and surgical specialties, and has comprehensive on-site diagnostic centers conveniently located in the communities we serve in the Cleveland metro area.OVERVIEW:
- Performs technical laboratory testing including, but not limited to, chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation.
- Reports test results following clinical protocols and procedures. Attention is paid to "critical values" and special alerts requested by physicians.
- Ensures quality control in all aspects of patient collection, handling and results reporting.
- Maintains equipment and supplies as required.
- Complies with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, and infection control.
- Assists the Laboratory Manager as directed.
- Be able to demonstrate current competencies related to position.
- Maintains client confidentiality at all times.
- The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.
- Experience/Education:
- BS/BA or Associate's degree, successful completion of MT,MLT course of study.
- ASCP or AMT certification or able to sit for certification exam within 6 months of hire date.
- Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications and tests.
- Knowledge of how to use/maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
- Knowledge of safety, infection control policies and regulations.
- Skilled in following appropriate testing procedures.
- Skilled in proper equipment use, preventive maintenance and repair.
- Skilled in appropriate quality control procedures.
- Skilled in HIPAA procedures.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment/decision-making, discretion in reporting/distributing results.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with clients and staff.
- Ability to work and communicate with all departments and personnel in a clear and concise manner.
- Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend and reach.
- Must be able to lift/carry 25lbs.
- Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Must be able to deal with occasional stress from workload.
- Laboratory is the primary work setting.
- May be exposed to communicable disease, sharps, toxic substances, body fluids, fumes, hazardous materials, noise.
