Overview
Corrigan Krause is assisting one of their clients in the search for a permanent Vice President of Finance and Accounting located in Cleveland, Ohio. With over 90 years of experience in the boiler and mechanical industry, they are focused on finding the right cultural and technical fit to join their growing team. As the VP of Finance and Accounting, you will be responsible for leading the company's financial, accounting, and administrative areas, while also being an integral part of the executive team, moving the business forward.
We are beginning our search early for a Vice President of Finance and Accounting, expected to join the team in Summer 2026.
- Oversee financial operations for a $50MM–$100MM+ multi-entity organization, including job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project margin analysis
- Lead and develop a small but growing finance team, including 3–5 direct reports
- Serve as a strategic financial partner to ownership, providing insight into profitability, cash flow, risk, and growth opportunities
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, month-end close, and compliance with GAAP and industry standards
- Act as a financial liaison to external partners, including CPAs, banks, bonding agents, and advisors
- Support capital planning, cash management, and bonding/credit relationships typical to industrial construction environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership within construction, industrial contracting, or project-based environments.
- Deep expertise in construction project accounting including job costing, WIP, POC methods, change orders, retainage, progress billings, and multi-entity reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of contractor-specific tax, bonding, and surety requirements, including preparation of financial packages for bonding capacity.
- Experience with ERP and construction accounting systems (e.g., Viewpoint, CMiC, Deltek, Procore integrations, Sage, or similar), including system selection, optimization, and data migrations. Preferred knowledge and experience using Foundation software
- Proven ability to build scalable financial processes, internal controls, and standardized management reporting (KPIs, dashboards, margin analysis).
- Hands-on capability in financial modeling, forecasting, and cash flow planning tied to project timelines and backlog.
- Track record of hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing finance team
- Strategic business partner with operations and leadership on bidding strategy, pricing, risk management, and growth initiatives, including M&A exposure (buy-side or sell-side preferred).
- Clear communicator with strong executive presence; able to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights and pass a required background check.
