Description

Plant Accountant:
Responsible for the ongoing analysis of productivity metrics, inventory and product costing. Participates in the month end closing process with a strong emphasis on inventory valuation. Ensures financial transactions are in accordance with GAAP and company policies/procedures. Communicates with various departments within the organization.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Daily/weekly reporting as requested by Plant Management and Finance
  • Support Plant Management by reporting on key metrics
  • Review and analyze raw material usage and ensure proper general ledger coding
  • Ensure plant costing methods accurately reflect actual costs by product type
  • Take ownership of cycle count program and monthly physical inventory count. This would include participating in the count, managing the input into the perpetual inventory system and performing audits around the counts.
  • Month end inventory valuation of raw materials, WIP and finished goods
  • Analyze variations between standard and actual costs to identify root causes.
  • Research monthly financial statement variances relating to assigned plant;
    Review monthly financial statements with management.
  • Assist with budget preparation relating to assigned plant
  • Special projects as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
