We are a small team with a big vision that collaboratively supports the investment, business, philanthropic and other activities of an entrepreneurial family. We are looking for a disciplined, enterprising professional to oversee all aspects of our accounting operations across public & private investments, households, trusts and business entities.
WALNUT RIDGE
Walnut Ridge coordinates the investing activities, business needs, philanthropic interests and family activities of a multigenerational family. In this work, we support a mix of private and public market investments, family business, personal interests and two philanthropic foundations. The family includes three living generations and is committed to generating both financial and societal value near- and longer-term.
We offer a flexible, hybrid environment and spend Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the office. Our office is located in Pinecrest, a recently built mixed-use development with upscale shops and restaurants near Beachwood, OH. In this role, you will also work remotely and on occasion in person with our teammates in Brooklyn, NY. You would be joining us at an exciting time as we are evolving our organizational infrastructure and preparing for a dynamic future.
ABOUTTHE POSITION
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will manage all accounting operations, culminating in the production of financial statements, budgets and liquidity forecasts while also overseeing internal controls and compliance across multiple entities.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY- Establish and maintain financial systems and controls for the family office, the family’s nonprofit foundations, various trusts, investment partnerships and other related entities.
- Collaborate with internal team to manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable and cash management.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Prepare and deliver financial statements, account reconciliations, general ledger analysis and annual audits.
- Assist with financial modeling and analysis for strategic initiatives.
- Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting and long-range financial planning processes across all family entities (trusts, investments, personal accounts, and related businesses).
- Fully integrate technology and software tools to effectively and efficiently provide financial statements and related reports for the office and family members.
- Manage cash flow needs and cash forecasts for a mix of investment partnerships, operating businesses, family client budgeting and spending, philanthropic needs and the family office.
- Coordinate with external investment managers and custodians to deliver reporting of cash and investment activity to stakeholders and liquidity updates and forecasts for stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and reporting requirements.
- Maintain internal controls and safeguards for revenue, costs and budgets.
- Interact regularly with external professionals including private bankers, financial and wealth advisors, lawyers, insurance professionals and tax accountants.
- Maintain organized, comprehensive records of all financial and other assets.
- Manage individual and fiduciary financial reporting processes and systems.
- Cultivate transparent and robust working relationships across the organization including clients, trustees, colleagues and advisors.
- Provide excellent service to management and clients.
- Provide support to family and household staff including occasional "off hours" (nights and weekends) when there are interruptions to spending or home services.
- Ability to work out of our Orange Village, OH office 3 or more days each week.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required. CPA required.
