The State Income Tax Manager will provide a variety of tax consulting, planning, and compliance services to a diverse range of clients operating in various sectors. Our Tax practice is constantly evolving, and you’ll find opportunities to grow as we take on new skills and responsibilities with dedicated mentors and training programs.
Responsibilities- Oversee state-level tax projects, including compliance and related research.
- Lead and direct a team in managing state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual state income tax provisions.
- Develop and work with staff and seniors to create a collaborative team environment.
- Model various state income tax benefits and consequences using Microsoft Excel, Power
BI or Alteryx. - Provide complex tax review, research, planning and consulting services to diverse clients, including federal and state tax regulations.
- Lead or assist with tax planning, research, and special projects.
- Managing and executing state income tax compliance responsibilities.
- Monitoring and analyzing changes in state income tax laws and regulations and determining impact to the client.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- The ability to analyze client data, apply technical guidance, and make recommendations to engagement teams.
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and the confidence to question existing processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed and operate in a balanced hybrid environment.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline and approximately six years of related work experience.
- High level of proficiency in state income tax code, regulations, and procedures.
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to analyze client data, apply guidance, and make recommendations to engagement teams.
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and the confidence to question existing processes.
- Willingness to travel and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- CPA qualification (achieved or partially achieved), certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, or ability to sit for or be a member of a state bar.
