Position: CAROUSEL OPERATOR

Carousel Operator, Cleveland History Center

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to the Sales Manager for providing excellent guest service for museum guests including, but not limited to, daily visitation and private events.
  • Ensuring the carousel ride is clean, in safe working order, and that guest safety and satisfaction is a priority.
  • Coordinate activities with front‑line staff at the History Center.
  • Coordinate ride maintenance with the Vice President of Facilities.
  • Operate the carousel, ensuring it is open and ready for business and all guests have a positive experience.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to daily visitor access: admissions, telephone, signage, orientation materials, visitor comments/complaints.
  • Uphold guest services standards and maintain rider safety as set out in the Carousel Operating Manual.
  • Greet guests cheerfully, enforce ride rules, assist guests entering or exiting the ride, ensure proper seating and latch on.
  • Do not leave the carousel unattended while in motion.
  • Minimize conversations and avoid the use of electronic devices.
  • Ensure routine daily and monthly maintenance is met; inform VP of Facilities of mechanical issues and follow up for timely repair.
  • Inform supervisors of key issues including safety, maintenance, and guest service.
  • Receive complaints, resolve when possible, and report all guest feedback.
  • Perform duties safely and efficiently to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain high standards of WRHS in actions, appearance, and attitude.
  • Support institution‑wide evaluation and data collection programs related to visitor experience, exhibits, public programs, and research services.
  • Promote and sell memberships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with the public.
  • Job‑related skills: initiative, goal orientation, creativity, organization, communication, and physical stamina.
  • Essential personal traits: enthusiasm, dependability, tact, flexibility, and capacity to work with a variety of people of all ages and backgrounds with a focus on the customer.
  • Able to work with a team and motivate people.
Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Must have flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Compensation

$14.00 per hour
