The Safety Specialist will work closely with the Site EHS Manager to drive improvements in workplace safety and compliance at the site, with focus on safe work practices and operational discipline.  The safety specialist will focus on prevention of workplace injuries through improved procedures and compliance, workplace improvements, and the development and delivery or EHS training.

The Valley View and Stow facilities are part of the DuPont Diversified Industrial business and are located in the greater Cleveland, OH area near Interstate 77, Interstate 480, and the Ohio Turnpike. The Valley View facility employs ~180 people while the Stow facility employs ~40 people, with both facilities expected to grow in the next year. Both sites manufacture compression molded, close tolerance-machined composite parts for major aerospace, commercial, and military aircraft engine manufacturers worldwide.##

Accountability and Responsibilities
* Frame and communicate general safety expectations, strategies, and practices to ensure all covered processes comply with applicable regulations and standards.  Focus on excellence in areas around worker safety such as LOTO, work permitting, machine safety, and ergonomics.
* Advise teams on safer design and use of equipment and/or processes.
* Track, calculate, and report health and safety metrics to site leaders and employees
* Analyze performance metrics (leading and lagging indicators) and engage site leaders with recommended programmatic adjustments for safety improvement
* Develop, facilitate, and promote employee safety improvement (Kaizen events, safety councils, and safety meetings).
* Plan and conduct industrial hygiene sampling for airborne contaminants, noise, and other occupational exposures. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
* Develop and oversee programs for proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain waste tracking and reporting systems.
* Support site compliance with air permit requirements by monitoring emissions-related activities, maintaining records, and assisting with permit updates or reporting obligations.
* Lead fire safety initiatives including inspections, fire protection system checks, and emergency response drills. Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and site fire prevention programs.
* Assist in implementing and maintaining PSM elements for applicable processes, including hazard analysis, operating procedures, and management of change. Collaborate with engineering and operations to ensure process safety integrity.
* Lead health & safety audits and critically analyze trends for improvement opportunities
* Ensure timely reporting, classification, and investigation of EHS incident or near miss events.  Assist with incident and illness case management.
* Conduct incident investigations/root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and communicate key learnings from environmental, health and safety events
* Conduct/review job safety analyses of processes to identify and mitigate EHS issues
* Develop and submit safety-related regulatory requirements to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local EHS requirements. Develop and maintain relationships with local safety agencies and take leadership role during inspections.
* Develop, coordinate, and/or conduct EHS training to increase proficiency in site practices and reduce the potential for workplace injuries or other loss
* Lead specialized work streams or be called upon to participate in other safety networks or committees within the organization.
* Drive improvements in job ergonomics and machine safety on shop floor.
* Support other Site EHS needs as needed, including support of occupation health and industrial hygiene programs as needed.## Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience in an Occupational Safety or affiliated discipline or another applicable technical field (engineering, chemistry, biology)
* Experience as a safety professional in manufacturing site is preferred
