As a Senior Chemist
, you will develop coating products for Automotive OEM customers. You will lead complex technical projects, drive innovation, and support technology approvals while collaborating across cross‑functional and global teams. Key Responsibilities- Develop products for Automotive OEM customers, including new color and product development projects
- Lead technology cost, complexity, and performance improvement projects
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to plan, manage, and execute projects using project management skills, process technology, manufacturing knowledge, and internal and external resources
- Independently plan and direct all aspects of assigned project areas while managing resources and timelines for customer teams
- Apply root cause analysis and BPI tools to resolve technical, manufacturing, and field issues
- Lead formula optimization and raw material initiative projects
- Influence technical direction on projects outside of direct responsibilities and lead more than one technology area
- Seek out new projects and challenging assignments and clearly communicate action plans to appropriate stakeholders
- Communicate effectively at all organizational levels and motivate peers and associates in cooperative efforts
- Make difficult technical decisions and earn support across teams, customers, and partners
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement while driving positive change
- Lead change programs and guide technology approvals
- Use and support standard processes and internal IT tools, including LFA, RMT/OPLA, and INDX
- Bachelor's Science Degree in Chemistry or related Engineering or Science field with 5 or more years of coating experience
- Project management experience and ability to support multiple projects
- Experience in using statistical tools for data analysis
- Strong experience in technology transfer across different regions (globally)
- Experience in development of Primer and Basecoat (WB/SB), and Clear coat
- Excellent communications skills
- Flexibility to lead meetings with Japan during nights/earlier mornings
- Agility to support unexpected issues outside of office hours
- Excellent knowledge of office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and preferred basic knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps
- Language skills are preferred
- Ability to travel up to 15%
