Job Title: Electrical Engineer

About the Engineering Company /

The Opportunity:

A leader in the Engineering industry is seeking an Electrical Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced, autonomous fire detection and suppression systems. This is an opportunity to work on cutting‑edge sensor‑driven platforms with a mission to protect lives and critical infrastructure in highly regulated, safety‑focused environments. The role offers hands‑on design and system integration work, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and guiding projects from concept through production and certification.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain electrical and embedded control systems for autonomous fire‑suppression platforms, including sensors, emitters, motors, and power electronics.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with UL design standards and safety requirements for certification and inspection.
  • Integrate sensor inputs using industrial protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP for real‑time monitoring and fault detection.
  • Develop embedded control logic in C/C++ for actuators, motors, and real‑time state machines based on sensor feedback.
  • Design and implement motor control and power electronics, including PWM motor drives, power regulation, and fault protection.
  • Utilize Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms for rapid prototyping and system validation.
  • Transition prototype designs to production‑ready embedded hardware, including custom PCB development.
  • Support HMI and application‑level reporting for system status, alerts, and diagnostics.
  • Perform board bring‑up, debugging, and troubleshooting using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, systems, and test engineering teams to achieve safe and reliable integration.
  • Contribute to verification and validation efforts, including EMC/EMI testing, safety validation, and documentation for manufacturing.
Must‑Have Skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering, embedded systems, or industrial controls.
  • Strong experience with UL design standards and safety requirements for product certification.
  • Hands‑on expertise with Arduino and Raspberry Pi for embedded prototyping and integration.
  • Proficient in embedded firmware development using C/C++.
  • Background in power electronics, motor/actuator control, and Modbus‑based sensor networks (RTU/TCP).
  • Proficiency with ECAD tools such as Altium or OrCAD for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience designing mixed‑signal PCBs and ruggedized hardware for field deployment.
  • Familiarity with HMIs, industrial displays, or connected applications for monitoring/control.
  • Comfortable supporting development from concept through to production and regulatory certification.
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
  • Experience with board‑level bring‑up, debugging, and advanced troubleshooting using lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of acoustic or infrasound systems for sensor‑driven fire detection.
  • Exposure to environmental stress testing and EMC/EMI validation.
  • Ability to create detailed engineering documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturing handoff materials.
  • Safety‑first engineering mindset with an understanding of regulatory compliance in safety‑critical applications.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Passion for developing reliable, autonomous solutions that enhance public and infrastructure safety.
