The Geotechnical Engineer will play a key role in the overall success of our organization by assessing and analyzing the ground on which solar energy gathering systems will be erected. As an integral part of the engineering and construction process, this position is involved in all phases of the project from initial research to site investigation through construction and warranty investigations.
The geotechnical engineer will build and maintain relationships with clients and other professionals involved in the site, throughout each project, maintain safety standards on site, be mindful of cost implications when you make recommendations and complete several tasks throughout the entire project lifecycle. This position reports to the Head of Engineering R&D or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate.
This position is located in Highland Hills and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 20%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES- Complete foundation designs for solar racking structures
- Review geotechnical reports and provide professional guidance relative to the design and installation of solar racking structure foundations
- Coordinate and carry out geotechnical site investigations through third party geotechnical firms
- Coordinate and carry out site specific load test programs for solar racking foundations
- Complete and or coordinate corrosion analysis relative to foundations
- Examine sites of proposed installation locations to check soil stability and rock formations
- Prepare reports on observational and laboratory findings to be presented to project leaders to discuss possible project risks, explain seismic activities, freeze/thaw heave potential, make recommendations for foundations and excavation activities, and summarize the progress of individual projects
- Conduct subsurface investigation through the collection of soil and rock samples from the project's intended site, using bores and test pits in order to determine the ground's stress bearing capability and stability
- Determine whether issues like erosion, freeze and thaw, settlement and slope will pose a safety risk to the proposed project
- Organize and work collaborative across departments within FR to ensure that all components are in sync with project and delivery plan
- Any other job-related duty as deemed appropriate by management
- 6+ years of engineering experience, ideally in a similar role with Solar, Construction, Oil and Gas pipeline organization
- Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems
- Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
- Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
- Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team
