Project Controls Specialist – Position and Responsibilities
As a Project Controls Specialist with Middough, you will provide services related to planning, scheduling, cost engineering, and earned value analysis on assigned projects. In this role, you will work with the project team to prepare schedule data for proposals/projects, apply established unit job hour and pricing data, perform schedule integrations, prepare work logic, identify restraints and potential impacts, develop recovery plans, and ensure projects stay on schedule.
Additionally, this role will identify variances in work execution and provide timely feedback with recommended solutions to management to mitigate issues with cost, schedule, and/or estimating throughout the life cycle of a project, program, or other related work activity.
- Work with Lead Engineers and Construction Team to refine Engineering/construction labor estimates into P6 Level 4 execution schedules and earned value management suite to track progress and issue reports.
- Lead in the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and development of schedules and budget data (including resource loading) for those WBS elements.
- Analyze unit rates and performance metrics to provide management team with guidance on performance to-date and estimate to completion.
- Compile schedule and cost data inputs into the project control database and interpret output results to guide decision making.
- Analyze schedule progress, performance and identify developing problem areas.
- Perform schedule resource loading and leveling.
- Advise management of risks that may affect project profit, costs, schedules and client relations.
- Support the project management team in maintaining timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems.
- Take the lead in the development and maintenance of any periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) status reports to update management on projects progress.
- Participate in the development of the project close out process including the evaluation of all subcontractors and major vendors.
- Set safety as priority in all planning and execution.
- Use Middough Advance Project Procedures (MAPP) as a tool for project implementation and complies with procedural requirements.

The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business.
- Project controls experience on engineering projects with a high level of knowledge in construction, procurement, and startup.
- Hands‑on experience with Primavera Project Planner P6 and/or MS Project is highly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience setting up project schedules working with resource loading and earned value management systems highly preferred.
- Experience with problem solving and/or use data analysis to make decisions.
- Knowledge of cost engineering concepts as they relate to budgeting, monitoring and tracking actual costs, change orders and forecasting.
- High level of project controls technical skills and experience.
- Experience with Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project Software.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities for project efficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
