GPD is currently seeking a motivated Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling Engineer to join our modeling team. We currently are looking to add staff in our Akron or Cleveland, Ohio Offices. We work directly with the communities we serve for water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater, flood control/reduction, water/wastewater treatment systems, and green infrastructure.
Day‑to‑DayJob Responsibilities
- Hydrology and Hydraulic analysis and modeling for bridges, large culverts, stream restoration, wastewater, and stormwater projects
- Working with communities on environmental regulatory program implementation and stormwater master plan development
- Bridge scour analysis and bank stabilization design
- Floodplain analysis for FEMA CLOMR/LOMR
- Supporting the team in other civil engineering design projects
- Other job duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 2–5 years’ experience in a hydrologic and hydraulic modeling role
- Knowledge of and interest in:
Hydrology and Hydraulics, Stormwater management, Green Infrastructure, Collection System analysis, Stream restoration, Dams and levees, Floodplain analysis - Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software such as SWMM, HEC‑RAS, and HEC‑HMS
- Experience with GIS software packages
- Ability to effectively read and understand construction drawings
- Ability to effectively assist in developing estimates and budgets
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to multi‑task
- Desire to work both in the field and office
- Willingness to travel
