Process Engineer – Cleveland, Ohio

Ionbond is seeking a dynamic Process Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll work closely with our Plant Manager and local team to advance the Ionbond™ family of coatings and services. If you have a background in engineering and quality systems—and enjoy both R&D and hands‑on production—you’ll thrive in this fast‑paced production setting.

• Be a key technical resource for the plant: develop, plan, mentor, and coach all steps in PVD coating operations.
• Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in plant performance to optimize volume, quality yields, and flow.
• Assist Plant Management in application development and scale‑up of major programs.
• Use statistical techniques to improve process capability, and failure analysis to investigate root causes.
• Recommend and implement equipment and/or process modifications for continuous improvement.
• Maintain Ionbond’s Quality Management System based on ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016, and train plant personnel on procedures.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kanban, and Value Stream Mapping.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science/Metallurgy, or Plasma Physics, and at least three years of vacuum coating experience specializing in thin‑film coatings. Hands‑on knowledge of PVD coatings, familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016, strong problem‑solving skills using 8D, Fishbone, Five Why’s, APQP approach (PFMEA, Control Plans). Proficiency in mechanical design and AutoCAD or similar. Experience managing projects, excellent communication, strong work ethic, attention to detail.

Ability to travel U.S. and internationally (min. 10 %) and pass a background check. Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
