The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program in the College of Health at Cleveland State University seeks to fill a nine‑month, tenure‑track Assistant Professor position beginning August 17, 2026.
Primary duties include: teaching DPT courses; participating in curriculum development and evaluation; conducting and maintaining research and scholarship; mentoring and advising students; and providing academic, professional, and community service. This is an on‑campus position.
Accredited since 1976, the Physical Therapy Department is part of the College of Health. The DPT Program actively engages students in the educational process in an energetic, collegial, and supportive academic environment within the urban campus and the dynamic Cleveland biomedical community.
Minimum Qualifications- Earned research doctorate in physical therapy or a related field, completed all Ph.D. requirements by June 1 2026 (ABDs considered for instructor).
- Physical therapist with eligibility for Ohio PT licensure.
- Minimum three years of clinical physical therapy practice experience.
- Ability to teach core DPT courses.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Evidence of teaching capability.
- Evidence of research and scholarship capability.
- Experience in higher‑education teaching, especially within an accredited DPT program.
- APTA board‑certified clinical specialist or graduate of a clinical residency/fellowship program.
- Experience integrating technology into teaching.
- Professional, academic, or community service and/or leadership.
- Willingness to teach a variety of courses across the DPT Program.
- Evidence of clinical practice in diverse settings.
- Collaborative teamwork ability.
- Excellence in research, including presentations, publications, student mentoring, and successful grant activity.
