Description: We are seeking a passionate and committed teacher to join our qualified team of educators. As a teacher, you will be responsible for cultivating the students' interest in education and development. Your responsibilities will include teaching the appropriate course of study following the state standards for the subject matter by using various instructional strategies that meet individual learning styles.
As a teacher of Garfield Heights City Schools, you should have a passion and love for teaching students in an urban community. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of teaching best practices and vital innovation and interpersonal skills.

Essential Functions:
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans with the ability to modify them accordingly during the school year
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development
- Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction
- Manage student behavior in the classroom
- Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in
- Utilize school-approved curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms
- Communicate and meet with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning
- Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Evaluate the accomplishments of preschool students on a regular basis
- Develop and update IEPs for each assigned preschool student
- Identify and address inappropriate behavior traits
- Implement strategies to accomplish individualized program goals
- Regularly communicate with parents and administrators
- Requisition needed supplies and materials
- Design programs to modify student behavior
- Supervise and guide preschool aides
- Document all incidents of physical restraint and inappropriate behavior
- Work with other preschool teachers to plan and develop new concepts to improve student behaviors
- Utilize a wide variety of instructional aids, including technology, to teach reading and math objectives
- Be available for scheduled and nonscheduled conferences with parents when possible
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
- Adapt curriculum and provide alternative teaching techniques and assessments to best enhance student learning
- Attend MFE and IEP meetings
- Administer and score various tests for evaluation and diagnostic purposes
- Assist the administration in implementing all procedures and rules governing student life and conduct
- Attend professional growth seminars, workshops, etc.
- Implement instructional strategies that incorporate content standards for subject matter area of expertise
- Observe ethics of the teaching profession
- Active and current state of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to appropriately manage confidential information
- Able to supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground, cafeteria, etc.)
- Training in varied instructional designs
- Skills that foster and facilitate learning and classroom management
- Knowledge in child development and an understanding of age appropriate tasks
- Educational pedagogy
- Student/teacher professional relationship
- Technology skills eg. electronic grades, moodle
