Description:
Teaches a variety of courses including Recording Theory, Digital Recording, Location Recording and Recording Labs and other department classes as assigned. Develops curriculum, exercises proficiency with current music and recording industry technology. Supports ongoing program and departmental growth and development.
* Prepares and delivers lectures to students on various topics in relation to a specific discipline
* May be assigned to teach courses on campus or at partner high schools, conduct adjunct instructor observations, and contribute to program development.
* Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments and papers
* Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
* Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, speaking with colleagues and participating in professional conferences
* Maintains student attendance records, grades and other required records
* Initiates, facilitates and moderates classroom discussions
* As needed, advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues
* Plans, evaluates and revises curricula, course content and course materials and methods of instruction
* Compiles, administers and grades examinations
* Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
* Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students
* Selects and obtains materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipment
* May serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, department matters and academic issues
* May participate in campus and community events
* In conjunction with Adjunct Services and deans, participates and assists with oversight and evaluation of adjunct faculty
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in a Recording Arts related field
* Minimum of 5 years full-time audio industry experience (studio, live sound, music business)
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
* 5 years college-level teaching experience in professional audio industry related subjects
* 5 years' experience in setup, construction, operation and maintenance, operation and maintenance of PC or Macintosh digital audio workstations
* Demonstrated ability with current digital software applications for Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems
* Demonstrated experience in current Pro Tools for Windows and Macintosh
* Ability to certify as licensed Avid Pro Tools Instructor
* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite (or equivalent)
* Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for students
* Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills
* Logic and reasoning skills to identify solutions, conclusions or approaches to problem
* Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in a Recording Arts related discipline
* Ability to develop new curriculum and learning units in anticipation of technical and market changes within the discipline
* Ability to teach multi-disciplinary courses within the Creative Arts Division
* Ability to build strategic alliances both within and across disciplines, within and outside the college
* Community college teaching experience
This Lectureship is for one Academic Year, classes beginning in Fall 2026. Ability to work a combination of days/evenings/weekends is required. Assignments may include working at multiple sites/campuses.
