Job Summary:The Cleveland State University College of Law invites applications for two 12‑month positions as Clinical Professors of Law at an entry level or a lateral level beginning July 1, 2026. The positions begin with annual appointments and, upon successful completion of five annual appointments, are followed by presumptively renewable five‑year contracts.
Areas of interest in clinical practice and teaching:
- First position: criminal prosecution, trial advocacy, criminal procedure and criminal law.
- Second position: not restricted to any specific subject, but the applicant must be willing to teach in both our Juris Doctor Online program and our in‑person program.
Duties include teaching and supervising students’ clinical work, supervising and teaching in our externship program, and serving on law school and university committees. As appropriate to the candidate’s interest and the college’s needs, duties may also include teaching other courses.

Minimum qualifications:- D. from an ABA‑accredited law school;
- License to practice in Ohio or immediate eligibility for temporary certification to practice under Ohio Rule for the Government of the Bar IX and be willing to seek permanent licensure;
- A minimum of five years of practice experience;
- A distinguished academic record; and,
- Evidence of potential for significant teaching ability.
- Substantial practice experience;
- Outstanding academic record including law review or other honors;
- The ability to contribute through teaching or service to the intellectual and academic excellence of the university community;
- Additionally, for the first position, at least five years of criminal prosecution experience.
