Saint Martin de Porres High School is seeking a dynamic, energetic and self-driven Theology Teacher to be part of an innovative college-prep and career readiness high school experience for the school year.
About Our OrganizationSaint Martin de Porres High School is part of the Cristo Rey Network of Catholic schools designed for students of modest means. Our Corporate Work study program provides real-world work experience while delivering a college preparatory education. Eighty percent of our students will be the first in their families to attend college. Our rigorous curriculum includes students working in a corporate environment and was designed for our school by educational leaders.
Saint Martin was founded in 2004, is chartered by the state of Ohio and accredited through the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association. Our mission of College and Career Readiness centers on five pillars:

Teacher responsibilities at Saint Martin de Porres High School include but are not limited to:
- Embrace the Saint Martin Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles as well as the Cristo Rey Network Standards of Mission Effectiveness.
- Value student-centered approach to education.
- Engage with professional learning teams that promote collaboration, peer review, and multidisciplinary lesson planning.
- Develop lesson plans in accordance with the school’s innovative curriculum.
- Turn in lesson plans weekly and unit plans quarterly.
- Model a work ethic characterized by diligence, persistence and dedication.
- Understand that the school is in an ongoing process of developing innovative policies in education; the teacher must be flexible in all matters involving teaching, school administration, program and curriculum development.
- Use informal and formal assessments to adjust classroom teaching to support and track student learning.
- Coordinate field trips for curricular and extracurricular activities.
- Communicate with parents/guardians.
- Support the school’s mission and belief statements concerning student learning.
- Participate in the development of the school’s teaching policies, procedures and methodologies.
- Education Requirements:
Must be Roman Catholic pursuant to Diocese of Cleveland requirements. Masters Degree preferred; however, a Bachelors degree with appropriate experience in your teaching field will be considered. Diocese of Cleveland High School Catechist certification preferred. - Experience:
3+ teaching years in an urban environment preferred. - Required Skills/Traits:
Able to work with school technology (use of academic software, Google, etc.);
Effective communicator both orally and written;
Outgoing personality;
Well organized;
Self-initiating.

Work, Study, Serve, Lead and Pray. - Believes that all learning should be set in meaningful context and related to real-world experiences.
- Utilizes pedagogical approaches including Habits of the Mind, Socratic questioning, coaching, presentations, problem-based learning, constructionist and inquiry methods, and other active-learning approaches.
- Person of faith but not necessarily Catholic.
- Appreciates that the school is driven by Catholicity and ethical, moral and social behavior expectations.
- Willing to take on tasks beyond the immediate job description when needed.
