Job SummaryThe Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the College of Health (COH) at Cleveland State University invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor position beginning August 17, 2026. The faculty role requires an on‑campus presence; it is not a remote position. Duties include teaching both online and in‑person classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels, engaging in scholarly research, and contributing to school, university, and community service.
Minimum Qualifications- PhD or EdD in CSD or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution; the terminal degree must be completed by August 1, 2026.
- Annual maintenance of the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) and Ohio licensure or eligibility for licensure in speech‑language pathology.
- At least seven years of clinical experience as a speech‑language pathologist.
- Experience as a supervisor, trainer, or mentor of speech‑language pathologists.
- Evidence of the potential to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders.
- Evidence of interest in and ability to teach both face‑to‑face and online courses.
- Interest in and ability to supervise graduate and undergraduate clinicians in the on‑campus Speech and Hearing Clinic.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience in a postsecondary setting.
- The ability to teach across a range of CSD content areas.
- Evidence of research, including a record of presentations, peer‑reviewed publications, and successful grant activity.
- Record of academic and/or professional service in communication sciences and disorders.
- Teaching experience and/or research interest in child language, phonology and articulation, and fluency disorders.
- Research interests in speech and hearing science or audiology.
- Experience promoting inter‑professional education.
- Experience in educational technology and distance learning.

- Annual maintenance of the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) and Ohio licensure in Speech‑Language Pathology.
- Five years of clinical experience as a speech‑language pathologist.
- Evidence of the potential to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders.
- Evidence of interest in and ability to teach both face‑to‑face and online courses.
- Coursework beyond the Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience, the ability to teach across a range of CSD content areas, including speech and hearing science.
- Experience as a supervisor, trainer, or mentor of speech‑language pathologists.
