The Department of Health Sciences & Human Performance (HSHP) in the College of Health at Cleveland State University is seeking to fill a nine‑month, tenure‑track Clinical Assistant Professor position beginning August 17, 2026. This on‑campus role includes teaching courses in the Exercise and Health Sciences programs, assisting with clinical education and lab supervision, participating in curriculum development and evaluation, mentoring and advising students, and providing academic, professional, and community service.
Additional responsibilities include accreditation support, coordination of clinical supervision and compliance, assessment of student learning, and development of community partnerships.
- Earned Doctorate in Exercise Science, Health Science, Health Education, Human Performance, Kinesiology or related field by June 1, 2026. ABD candidates will be hired at the rank of Instructor.
- Minimum of three years of clinically relevant work experience.
- Ability to teach core courses in the HSHP Department, including exercise physiology, health promotion, wellness, anatomy and physiology, and related courses.
- Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills, including teamwork collaboration.
- Experience in teaching, especially in higher education, both in person and online (e.g., full‑university course coordination, accredited program teaching, graduate‑level teaching, continuing education, guest lectures).
- Experience integrating technology into teaching.
- Relevant industry certifications/licenses (e.g., ACSM, GXMO, CHES, NBHWC, NSCA, CSCS).
- Professional, academic, or community service and/or leadership (e.g., involvement in professional or community organizations, committee work, volunteer in health‑related activities, advocacy).
- Familiarity with curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment aligned with accreditation standards.
- Experience with clinical education coordination and supervision of students in laboratory and clinical settings.
