East Cleveland City School District is seeking a dynamic, student‑centered educational leader to serve as Principal of Shaw High School. The Principal provides instructional leadership and administrative oversight of the high school, ensuring the delivery of a rigorous, equitable educational program that supports student achievement, social‑emotional growth, and postsecondary readiness. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to urban education, community engagement, and continuous school improvement.

Required Education, Experience, And Qualifications- Master's Degree in Educational Administration or related field
- Valid Ohio Principal or Administrative License
- Meet all requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
- Successful completion of BCI and FBI background checks
- Meet all health requirements mandated by law
- Possession of a valid Ohio motor vehicle operator's license
- Demonstrated experience in secondary education leadership preferred
- Knowledge of federal and Ohio education law and accountability requirements
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, urban school community
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build consensus and lead collaborative teams
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success
- Establish and sustain a school culture that promotes high expectations, academic excellence, and respect for all learners
- Lead the implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of instructional programs
- Use student data to guide instructional decision‑making and school improvement efforts
- Clearly communicate the school's mission, goals, policies, and expectations to students, staff, families, and the community
- Supervise, support, and evaluate instructional and non‑instructional staff
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of high‑quality staff
- Assign staff responsibilities to maximize effectiveness and align with individual strengths
- Foster professional growth through coaching, feedback, and professional development
- Ensure alignment of curriculum with Ohio Learning Standards
- Support effective instructional practices and intervention strategies
- Oversee scheduling to maximize student access to academic programs and support services
- Collaborate with district leadership to support career‑technical education, college readiness, and workforce pathways
- Ensure implementation of student discipline, attendance, and behavior policies consistent with Board policy and state law
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Collaborate with student support services, including special education, counseling, and intervention teams
- Attend and support extracurricular and co‑curricular programs that enhance student engagement
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, community organizations, and local partners
- Promote meaningful family engagement in the educational process
- Represent Shaw High School positively within the community and at district events
- Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders regarding school programs and initiatives
- Develop and manage the building budget in collaboration with district leadership
- Ensure responsible use of fiscal, human, and physical resources
- Oversee daily building operations, safety procedures, and emergency preparedness
- Coordinate facility use and maintenance with district operations staff
- Implement and enforce Board of Education policies and administrative procedures
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or his/her designee
