Saint Ignatius High School, a highly successful Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an exceptional full time science teacher beginning in the school year. This full-time position will include planning for and teaching Physics and/or Chemistry and leadership of one student advisory. Depending on the candidate’s professional experience, the opportunity to teach other science courses is possible.
The preferred candidate will have experience teaching high school science and a willingness to participate in the extracurricular and faith formation life of the school. The candidate should expect to engage in ongoing professional development opportunities. PrimaryAreas of Responsibility
- Plan for and teach a full load of science courses in Chemistry and/or Physics.
- Guide high-impact, college-preparatory learning activities that align with our school standards and mission.
- Create and maintain a classroom with fair and consistent standards in all areas--including content and assessments as well as fostering interpersonal relationships and positive student behavior.
- Serve as an advisor to a group of students.
- Participate in the extracurricular life of the school, either through participation in Science Olympiad, First Robotics, or another activity of choice.
- Participate in the mission life of the school by attending student retreats, leading prayer experiences or mission trips, participating in service or justice experiences, etc.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Integrated Science;
- Experience teaching in a high school classroom setting. Familiarity with college preparatory Catholic, Jesuit education is a plus.
- Current Ohio teaching license in AYA Integrated Science or eligibility to obtain.
