Rainey Institute is seeking Part-Time
Teaching Artist Assistants specifically for the Art Adventures Class. The Teaching Artist Assistant provides support to the lead Teaching Artist during the class and is responsible for the daily class functionality as well as supporting the emotional wellbeing of the students. Teaching Artist Assistants at Rainey Institute have the unique opportunity to have an impact on the entire community, in and outside of the classroom.
Teaching Artist Assistants contribute to a climate and classroom environment that is inclusive, creative and aspirational.
- Assist Teaching Artist in preparing the class supplies and clearing away afterwards so as to maintain a safe and clean environment
- Assist in the execution of lesson plans that:
- Establish routine and reinforce fundamental skills
- Encourage peer-teaching
- Appropriately challenge the individual student and the group as a whole
- Assist in the preparation for activities as directed by the teaching artist
- Assist in setting and maintaining high standards for students’ behavior by enforcing the Rainey norms and student conduct policy.
- Assist in monitoring snack and homework time
- Experience in working in the visual or performing arts
- Experience working with children from diverse ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Interest in supporting Kindergarten - 2nd Grade students (ages 5
- 8) - Willingness to work as part of a team
- Skills in Art to support various creative arts projects and activities
Rainey Institute After-School Program
Work LocationThe candidate may be assigned to either of the following locations, depending on scheduling needs.
(1) Rainey East Side Campus (Hough) :
1705 E 55th St, Cleveland, OH 44103
(2) Rainey West Side Campus (Clark - Fulton) at Pivot Center for Art Dance and Expression:
Program Session DurationFrom February 1st, 2025 to May 15th, 2026
(With opportunity to further employment through summer & following school year).
Work Shift- The candidate will work five afternoon shifts per week, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Specific shift days can be discussed based on the candidate’s availability.
$17-17.50 per hour (Hourly / Part-time)
