Intervention Specialist East Academy

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly qualified Intervention Specialist at East Academy in Cleveland, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. The Intervention Specialist supports the educational and behavioral goals of all students with a focus on students with an Individualized Education Program.

• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting disabilities of students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curriculum as necessary, and assisting the student with regular class assignments.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments and functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Relentlessly work to meet all student achievement and culture goals, including state-specific achievement goals.
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience working in a full-room inclusion model or co‑teaching in a resource room.
• High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
• High proficiency in written and verbal communication.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
• Clear to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI).
• Experience working in a multi‑cultural setting preferred.
