Overview
Cleveland Arts & Social Sciences Academy (CASSA) is a public charter school serving the Buckeye-Shaker community and surrounding neighborhoods. ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly-qualified part-time Intervention Specialist in Cleveland, Ohio to support student learning and social-emotional development in a rigorous, nurturing classroom environment. CASSA emphasizes the arts and humanities, small group learning, educational technology, and a positive school culture within a K-8 setting.
The school is part of ACCEL Schools, a network serving PK-12 students since 2014.
The Intervention Specialist supports the educational and behavioral goals of all students, with a focus on students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Responsibilities- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to interpret students’ abilities and disabilities, assist in intervention strategies, modify general education curricula as necessary, and support students with regular class assignments.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction
- Conduct functional behavior assessments
- Write and implement behavior improvement plans
- Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives
- Relentlessly work to meet goals related to student achievement, school culture, and state achievement targets
- Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction
- Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues
- Serve as advisor for a designated set of students
- Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth
- Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
- Experience in a full inclusion/co-teaching model or resource room model
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment with frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook)
- Excellent organization and time management
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI)
- Experience in a multi-cultural setting preferred
