Overview

The Heart Failure (HF) Section in the Division of Cardiology at The Metro Health Medical Center is seeking a board-certified/board eligible HF Cardiologist to join the HF Care Center (HFCC). This is an academic position with an academic faculty appointment at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine. In addition to clinical efforts, candidates will have protected time for teaching and research.

the HF Care Center (HFCC) and Team

The HFCC at Metro Health is run by a collaborative team of providers including HF-trained, board-certified cardiologists, HF trained nurse practitioners, HF-certified nurses and a nurse coordinator, and a clinical pharmacist. This team has established multiple clinical programs for the management of patients with various types of HF, pulmonary arterial hypertension, cardiac amyloidosis, cardio-oncology, and muscular dystrophy. The HFCC also works collaboratively with the heart transplantation centers in the region to identify and evaluate patients who may be candidates for advanced HF therapy, and to co-manage patients after receiving left ventricular assist devices through the Shared Care LVAD program.

The HFCC is an active participant in several multicenter randomized clinical trials and has been the recipient of multiple get-with-the-guidelines (GWTG) Gold-plus certifications for implementing guideline-directed medical therapy for patients with HF.

Responsibilities

Clinical efforts in heart failure care; collaboration with transplant centers and regional centers for advanced HF therapies; participation in multicenter randomized clinical trials; involvement in teaching and research with protected time as part of an academic appointment.

Qualifications

Candidates must have completed post-graduate training in both cardiology and heart failure, with a preferred interest in cardio-obstetrics to meet a growing need in our patient population. Board certification/eligibility in heart failure is required.
