Trauma / Acute Care Surgeon
The Department of Surgery and Division of Acute Care Surgery at the Metro Health System in Cleveland, Ohio, is accepting applications for a General Surgeon with interest in covering trauma and/or an Acute Care Surgeon to help staff our Level III trauma center at our partnering Hospital in Norwalk, Ohio. Successful candidates should be board-certified/eligible in General Surgery and and/or have additional qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.
We are seeking a surgeon interested in covering trauma/emergency general surgery for one week per month for up to one year contract with opportunity to extend the time further if mutual interest exists. We have expanded Metro Health trauma services to the surrounding community and partnering hospital in establishing their Level III trauma since 2018 to provide excellent trauma and emergency general surgery care to the Norwalk community keeping patients in their community.
Responsibilities- See trauma activations, emergency general surgery consultations
- Staff the trauma/EGS clinic (half a day once a week)
- Rounding/managing patients on the trauma/EGS service
- Operating on trauma/EGS patients during the week
- Supported by our excellent group of APPs for support during the day for the entire week
The Metro Health System is a large teaching hospital that is part of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. The 700+ bed main campus hospital is an ACS verified Level I adult trauma, Level II pediatric trauma, and Level I burn center. Our partnering institution where the surgeon will be staffed is a 99-bed hospital that ACS verified level III adult trauma center in Norwalk, Ohio.
The level III partnering hospital has over 1600 trauma activations a year and admits nearly 130 injured patients.
