About the Department

What You Will Do3>
  • Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specific patient population.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Refer patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Train and supervise medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
  • May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
  • Direct and coordinate the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Participate in specified health promotion, education, and prevention programs, as appropriate to the position.
  • Maintain department productivity thresholds.
  • Maintain faculty status in good standing with the CWRU SOM (if applicable).
  • Adhere to core physician obligations as outlined in the Physician Policy Manual.
  • Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
  • Refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation for specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, including annual PHI training and adherence to University Hospitals policies and procedures.
