Nord Family Network Director’s Fellowship in Research and Evaluation

The Cleveland Museum of Art’s Research & Evaluation department supports an audience-centered, data-informed approach across the institution by developing and delivering audience research and evaluation projects related to the museum’s current and desired audiences. Research & Evaluation seeks an Evaluation Intern for Summer 2026 to further inform the future reinstallation of the Reid Gallery and to support the museum’s marketing team with major summer events.

Through the evaluation project, the intern will experience early the entire visitor studies process at CMA, from data collection and data entry to analysis and reporting. This internship will offer experiences both in visitor-facing and analysis roles – activities may include collecting surveys, interviews, observations, and quantitative or qualitative data analysis and visualization, as well as experiencing institutional meetings and processes.

In addition to completing the evaluation, the internship will also offer opportunities to participate in and experience other evaluation projects and institutional activities. As the Research & Evaluation department sits with the Communications & External Relations division, the Evaluation Intern will be invited to explore how the museum’s marketing and communications team supports major CMA events by assisting with day‑of marketing efforts at events such as, but not limited to, Parade the Circle, City Stages, gallery reinstallation openings, and more.

The primary deliverable from this internship will be an evaluation report on visitor experiences of the Reid Gallery that can both align with an earlier phase of evaluation conducted in the gallery and inform an upcoming reinstallation. To produce this report, the intern will experience an evaluation project from concept to reporting, including instrument design, data collection, data entry, analysis and visualization, and reporting and presenting.

The intern will likely also assist in other department projects throughout the summer, assist Marketing at key events during the summer, and attend a variety of meetings to experience the role of Research & Evaluation at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

This internship provides an opportunity to apply a student’s existing academic knowledge of evaluation or visitor studies practices to real‑world projects; applications that demonstrate existing academic exploration of evaluation or related fields will be strongly considered for the internship.
