OverviewThe Prints and Drawings team at the Cleveland Museum of Art seeks an intern to work with departmental curators on a project that involves researching and cataloging a substantial recent acquisition of 20th-century prints. The internship will primarily involve seeking out scholarly information about the works, adding details to the museum’s database, and authoring didactic texts about each print for the public website.
The successful candidate will gain significant experience in the field of prints and drawings by collaborating, as time allows, with the department’s two curators on collections and exhibition research on various topics. Over the course of the internship, the chosen candidate will learn about curatorial work, including object-based research, cataloging, and exhibition organization. They will also learn technical information about prints and drawings and practical skills in art handling.
By the conclusion of the internship, the selected candidate will contribute to new cataloging on the museum’s collection database Athena and digital didactics/Did-You-Know facts for objects from a large recent acquisition of 20th-century prints.
Responsibilities- Research and catalog information about the 20th-century prints in the recent acquisition.
- Add details to the museum’s collection database (Athena).
- Author didactic texts for each print for the public website.
- Collaborate with the department’s curators on related collections and exhibition research as time allows.
- Learn object-based research, cataloging, and exhibition organization in support of curatorial work.
- Gain practical skills in handling works of art and learn technical information related to prints and drawings.
- Major in Art History, Curatorial Studies, or a related field
- Some background or interest in prints and/or drawings is ideal but not required
- Strong writing skills are preferred

This position is funded through an Eric and Jane Nord Family Director’s Fellowship. The pay rate for this internship is $16/hour. The internship is 35 hours/week for nine weeks. The internship includes a generous housing and travel stipend.
The tentative start date for this internship is June 1, 2026.
