North Coast Paving is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Junior Estimator / Office Clerk to support our estimating and project management team. This hybrid role combines administrative duties with hands‑on exposure to the estimating process, providing an excellent entry point into the asphalt paving and construction industry.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the estimator in preparing project bids and proposals.
- Perform basic quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
- Gather vendor and subcontractor quotes for materials, trucking, and services.
- Help organize bid packages, RFQs, and supporting documents.
- Learn and assist with cost analysis, job costing, and production rate tracking.
- Handle daily clerical tasks including filing, data entry, and document organization.
- Answer phones, route calls, and support office communications.
- Prepare purchase orders, delivery tickets, and project setup files.
- Maintain digital and physical job folders for estimating and production teams.
- Support payroll and job cost entry as needed.
- Assist with tracking material tickets and vendor invoices.
- 1–3 years of office or construction‑related experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of construction or paving terminology a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (experience with estimating software a bonus).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to learn the estimating process and grow within the company.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or business coursework preferred.
- Competitive hourly pay or salary based on experience.
