Position Title Senior Estimator – Commercial Construction
Location Greater Cleveland, OH
Position Summary A well‑established and highly respected commercial construction firm is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This role plays a critical part in shaping successful projects by developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates across a wide range of commercial construction work. The ideal candidate brings strong estimating experience on complex projects, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to evaluate risk and opportunity early in the project lifecycle.
This position offers the chance to work on both high‑profile large-scale projects and fast‑paced smaller builds while partnering closely with leadership, project teams, and trusted trade partners.
- Prepare detailed budgets, estimates, and pre‑bid packages using drawings, specifications, supplier quotes, and engineering standards
- Perform material takeoffs and develop full‑scope estimates for Design‑Bid‑Build, Design‑Build, and CM/GC delivery methods
- Critically analyze bid documents to identify risks and opportunities and clearly communicate findings to management
- Solicit, organize, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing at both local and national levels
- Collaborate with project managers, vendors, designers, and internal stakeholders to refine estimates and project strategies
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners
- Support a collaborative, client‑focused approach that aligns with company values and customer expectations
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field
- 7+ years of recent experience estimating commercial construction projects in the $10M–$100M range
- Strong understanding of the RFP and competitive bid process
- Proficiency in estimating and construction software, including:
- Microsoft Office
- Bluebeam
- OnScreen Takeoff
- AutoCAD (3D experience preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
- LEED accreditation preferred
- Established subcontractor and vendor relationships are a plus
- Work with a financially stable, long‑standing construction organization with decades of market presence
