Brief Description
Metals Segment Manager expands Mazzella Companies’ business in the Steel Segment (Hot Metal Handling, Steel Processing, and Non‑Ferrous Metals) by driving high growth targets through relationships, negotiations, and collaboration with key Mazzella personnel. The role aggressively develops sales growth within current national accounts and acquires new accounts by direct and indirect sales efforts, selling all products by increasing product knowledge and brand awareness at retail and corporate accounts and supporting an established national customer base for overall growth.
- Identify high‑potential growth targets – $100K+ in annual incremental sales (National Accounts and Key Regional accounts)
- Become an expert and manage and teach the Steel Mill Program
- Make joint field sales calls to Steel Mills, branches, or key prospects; regular overnight travel is required to manage assigned accounts
- Drive and promote Mazzella Steel Mill Program
- Meet monthly established sales goals in accordance with the business development plan
- Develop effective sales plans and business strategies for assigned markets and accounts
- Identify and set appointments with executive‑level decision makers
- Discover and evaluate customer needs and current relationships
- Present Mazzella’s value proposition to the prospect/customer
- Negotiate master service agreements in accordance with Mazzella’s commercial margin expectations
- Submit deal sheets outlining program and sales and margin expectations
- Act as a central point of contact to service existing or assigned account’s needs and requests
- Communicate and implement program across chain or region(s) in partnership with Regional Sales Managers and General Managers of Mazzella facilities
- Post‑implementation, continue to support the customer relationship to nurture and expand our business over time
- Work with management and Corporate Marketing to implement promotional programs for National Accounts
- Perform other associated duties as directed or required
Education
Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Economics, Marketing, or related discipline; in the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in an industrial sales role may offset the degree requirement.
Experience & Skills
- Ten plus years of account sales experience in manufacturing, distribution, or a related field
- Strong negotiation skills and experience
- Consultative skills, ability to develop and successfully present business cases
- Excellent analytical, math, and spreadsheet skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
- Ability to prepare reports on sales forecasts, market trends, competitors’ actions, and new product developments
- Must possess successful experience in leading cross‑functional teams on projects
- Must have advanced writing and communication skills and be able to interact and persuade individuals at levels senior to him or her, as well as actively participate in meetings and group discussions with individuals from various functions of the organization (e.g., Sales, Finance, Marketing)
- Must be detail oriented, self‑motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi‑task
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and E‑verify
- Communicate to the entire workforce a personal desire to prevent employee injuries at work; demonstrate sincere care and concern for employees and act as a role model by demonstrating safe work habits
- Read, understand, and lead the execution of each of Mazzella’s written health & safety programs
- Ensure health & safety training is completed according to the annual plan
- Routinely reinforce with the workforce, including your expectation that all injuries, incidents, and near hits be reported immediately
- Investigate all incidents to identify the root causes and corresponding corrective actions necessary to prevent recurrence
- Review safety alerts and communications with your employees as necessary to prevent similar injury to your employees
