Overview
The Project Accountant will support the financial management of real estate development and construction projects by assisting with pay applications, loan and equity draws, and budget tracking. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a solid foundation in accounting principles. The Project Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting project success.
Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and submission of pay applications to lenders and partners.
- Support monthly loan and equity draw processes, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Track, review, and report on project receivables and communicate with appropriate stakeholders.
- Review vendor invoices and subcontractor pay applications for accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation.
- Support monthly financial reporting of entities under development by ensuring all job cost related transactions are recorded.
- Assist with weekly project cash reconciliations, month-end closing procedures and reporting.
- Collaborate with the accounting team and project managers to ensure financial accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a project-based or construction environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Procore and MRI software is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency.
- Self-starter with a high level of initiative and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to meeting deadlines and maintaining financial integrity.
