Our client is a privately owned hospital seeking a General Practice Veterinarian to join an established small animal clinic providing care primarily to dogs and cats, with a small percentage of exotic cases. The hospital is recruiting to support a growing caseload within a collaborative, community-focused environment where clinicians are encouraged to develop their own clinical interests.
The hospital currently operates Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 7:00pm, Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm, with the practice closed on Sundays. Typical GP appointment schedules begin from 8:00am, with a dedicated 1.5-hour break during the day for administration, follow-ups, and case review, before resuming appointments until the end of the shift. This role follows a rotating 4-day and 4.5-day schedule with every other Saturday worked.
New doctors are expected to be flexible with late evenings and weekends as the hospital plans to extend opening hours. Full-time and flexible scheduling options are available.
This role focuses on general practice medicine, including wellness care, diagnostics, and surgery. Appointments are scheduled in 30-minute blocks, with occasional double booking for same-day sick cases. Surgery is typically performed on designated days, scheduled in the morning and completed before 2:00pm, with appointments continuing afterward. Clinical exposure includes soft tissue surgery, dentistry with dental radiography, hospitalized case management, and advanced diagnostic workups.
The role is open to experienced veterinarians, with new graduates considered if they are motivated to learn, adaptable, and eager to grow clinically.
The hospital is equipped with in-house laboratories, digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, laser therapy, and dedicated dental surgical suites. Advanced procedures performed within the practice include abdominal ultrasound, orthopedic procedures such as TPLO and lateral suture repair, advanced soft tissue surgery, and comprehensive dental care. The practice holds Fear Free and Cat Friendly certifications and supports a loyal client base within an established community-focused setting.
The caseload is varied and allows veterinarians to pursue individual clinical interests while maintaining high standards of care.
The team consists of four DVMs, including two owners and two associate veterinarians, supported by approximately 18 support staff with a 2:1 technician-to-doctor ratio. The environment is collaborative and supportive, with doctors working closely together and fostering opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and niche-building.
