SUMMARY
The Performance Coordinator supports the Mayor’s Office by assisting with the assessment, execution, monitoring, and documentation of discrete internal projects focused on improving the City’s operational efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency. The position supports in-depth information-gathering and analysis, implementation activities, progress-tracking against established goals, and assistance for departments in advancing defined improvement initiatives. In addition, the Performance Coordinator supports individual City projects by facilitating targeted, project-specific community engagement activities that inform implementation, surface operational considerations, and support successful project delivery.
The role works in coordination with relevant departments, the Planning Department, and the Communications Department to support defined project needs.
- Support the execution of internal projects assigned by the Mayor that are focused on improving operational efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency.
- Assist departments with implementation activities after project goals, scope, and direction have been established.
- Track project milestones, timelines, deliverables, and follow-through on assigned initiatives.
- Prepare status updates, summaries, and documentation for the Mayor and senior staff.
- Facilitate meetings related to assigned projects, including preparing agendas, organizing materials, and documenting outcomes.
- Assist in identifying implementation challenges and support problem-solving in coordination with department leadership.
- Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative information to support operational assessments and improvement efforts.
- Support departments in documenting current processes, workflows, and performance measures related to assigned projects.
- Assist in developing implementation plans, tracking tools, and progress reports for improvement initiatives.
- Support project-specific community engagement activities for major City initiatives by assisting with planning, logistics, and facilitation.
- Coordinate with the Planning Department and the Communications Department to support public engagement activities tied to specific projects.
- Help collect, summarize, and document community input to support informed decision-making on assigned projects.

QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, urban planning, management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience supporting projects or initiatives in a professional, public-sector, or organizational setting.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, and external stakeholders.
- Experience working in a municipal government or executive office environment.
- Experience supporting project implementation, performance tracking, or internal process improvement.
- Experience assisting with public meetings or community engagement activities.
- Familiarity with municipal operations or planning processes
- Master’s Degree or higher; 3-5 years of project management experience working for a public sector employer preferred.
- 3 years of experience leading Kaizen initiatives and presentations.
- Program or project start up knowledge and experience.
- Ability to demonstrate successful outcome and completion of projects through metrics, and financials.
- Ability to successfully improve processes and streamline work using lean principles and quantifying and qualifying results
- Green/Black Belt Certified.
- Project Management Certified.
- Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Ohio driver license.
