Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Level
1)
Salary: Annual: £21,012-£22,903 (based on hours and working weeks). Full Time Equivalent: £25,941-£28,275 (CLF Grade
B).
Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time, 35 hours per week, Term Time Only (plus INSET days).
Working Pattern:
- Monday to Friday – 8.30am – 4.00pm (30‑minute lunch break).
We are looking for a passionate and driven Level 1 Teaching Assistant to support students’ educational, personal, and social development under the direction of relevant colleagues at Lime Hills Academy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing planned learning activities and teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to children’s responses.
- Supporting pupils to access the curriculum, engage with learning, and achieve their full potential, ideally with experience supporting students with SEMH needs.
- Working collaboratively with academy staff at all levels to deliver excellent educational experiences and champion the life chances of all children.
- Managing behaviour effectively on a one‑to‑one or small group basis.
- Adopting relevant strategies and techniques tailored to individual learning needs.
- Participating in ongoing training and development, fully supported in your role.
About you:
- Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities, and how a Teaching Assistant supports students.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening when working with students who may need additional support.
- Good planning and organisational skills for preparing and adapting learning activities and support materials.
- Commitment to undertaking relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, First Aid qualification).
- Genuine interest in working with children and a strong commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all learners.

About Lime Hills Academy: a special school for students in years 5‑11 with an EHCP to support SEMH needs.
We will be moving into a new build in Churchill; at present we have a temporary arrangement supported by the DfE and CLF, delivering provision across two sites: a secondary site in Weston and a primary site in Nailsea.
