General Description

Performs electrical installation repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and control systems in an industrial plant environment of the water and wastewater field with multiple critical processes. Work is performed under general supervision.

This position is non-exempt. Fair Labor Standards Act overtime provisions will apply.

Primary Duties

• Troubleshoots and repairs controls and electrical on heavy industrial equipment including generators. Maintains and troubleshoots large horsepower motors.
• Calibrates control equipment to factory specifications including flow meters, pressure transducers, temperature transducers, and vibration sensing equipment.
• Tests and performs preventative and predictive maintenance on motor control systems and AC/DC motors.
• Troubleshoots equipment using programmable logic controllers (PLC), ladder logic diagrams, and electrical run sheets.
• Uses technical manuals and prints to isolate and repair wastewater control systems.
• Maintains and updates an effective electrical preventative maintenance (PM) program ensuring all equipment is maintained on a periodic schedule and equipment is maintained in a timely manner.
• Maintains Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
• Calibrates and maintains instruments including pH meters, C12 analyzers, dissolved oxygen (DO) meters, and other instruments.
• Repairs and maintains an extensive lighting system in support of building maintenance. Installs new conduit, boxes, and panels; and pulls wire to code as needed to support equipment upgrades.
• Orders parts and maintains inventory.
• Maintains logs and related records.
• Reviews and submits changes to new electrical plans.
• May be required to work rotating shifts, on call duties, and extended hours in emergency situations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Five (5) years of electrical experience in industrial motor controls including PLC programming knowledge.
• Must be familiar with and utilize the NEC standards.
• Must be able to determine problems commonly associated with motors, generators, and service.
• Obtain a restricted class "B" commercial Florida Driver's License with air brake and tanker endorsement within 90 days from date of hire.
• Obtain a class "B" commercial Florida Driver's License with air brake and tanker endorsement within 180 days from date of hire.
• Prefer license as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Obtain FEMA IS100, IS700 within six months from date of employment.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.

In some cases, an equivalent combination of higher education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience is in a relevant and related field.

• Good eyesight, hearing, and speech.
• Regular driving of vehicle.
• Must be able to wear personal protection equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

Works outside in sometimes adverse environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, and rain) for moderate periods of time; and is exposed to construction and water/wastewater site hazards, traffic, and moving machinery. Involves working with high voltage equipment, heights…
