Overview

Seeking a stellar Medical Assistant with a passion for pediatric care. Requires at least 2.5 years of experience, preferably in a pediatric setting; if no pediatric background, strong clinical skills with vaccine administration.

Schedule:

Monday and Wednesday 10am - 7pm;
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8am - 5pm; rotating Saturdays. $500 Sign On Bonus / additional $500 for bilingual in Spanish.

Responsibilities
  • PRIMARY FUNCTION:
    Perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. Support clinician and care management teams in chronic disease management, examination and treatment of the pediatric patient population. Specialty trained as applicable.
  • Maintain high quality patient experience: welcome patients, ensure a safe patient environment, maintain office and exam room cleanliness, and ensure appropriate supplies and equipment for patient care in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Perform and document patient intake vitals (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate); notify clinician of any abnormal findings.
  • Interview patients based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs; document and update medical records with chief complaints, medications (name, dosing, route, allergies with reaction and severity), vaccine history, medical/surgical histories, family/social histories, barriers to care, and home status. Obtain and review necessary medical records and test results for clinician assessment.
  • Prepare patients for clinician examination; ensure orders are performed and documented; assist with age-appropriate vision and hearing screenings, ECGs, suture removal, ear care, wound care, specialty procedures, and emergency response under clinician supervision as needed.
  • Administer vaccines and reconcile medications; provide vaccine information statements and educate patients/parents prior to vaccine and medication administration.
  • Adhere to vaccine cold chain management: proper handling, storage, preparation, administration, and reporting of vaccine excursions.
  • Verify patient identifiers and perform vaccine and medication administration (intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous) with post-observation.
  • Complete follow-up and assigned tasks to meet patient needs, including answering phones, handling correspondence, processing prescription refills, obtaining medication preauthorizations, coordinating referrals, completing patient forms (DME, therapy, school clearance, sports, etc.), and arranging home or hospital care and follow-up appointments.
  • Perform phlebotomy and lab sample collection with proper processing and documentation per policy.
  • Contribute as an essential member of the patient-centered medical home team, meeting best practice standards, quality metrics, and KPIs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • EDUCATION:

    High School Diploma or equivalent required. Medical foreign doctors must have a Bachelor of Science degree in General Medicine from a regionally accredited university or equivalent.
  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: MA Diploma/Certification required or a minimum of 3 years MA experience to commensurate Diploma/Certification requirement. Active BLS certification required. Current, valid driver’s license required.
  • EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience with MA Diploma/Certification in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
    Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills to support pediatric patients and families; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; knowledge of basic medical terminology and immunization; knowledge of medical safety practices and standards; ability to plan, prioritize and organize; clear written and verbal communication; strong critical thinking including emergency situations; proficiency with electronic health record systems.
Working Conditions
  • Direct patient care; 15-20% travel to other office locations as needed with travel reimbursement per company policy; designated MA float staff assigned to multiple locations.
  • Operating computer; exposure to hazards; extreme temperatures; manual dexterity; ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs; push/pull up to 200 lbs; walking, squatting or kneeling; vision, hearing, and sense of touch; PPE usage.
