- 55% - Essential - Electrical Systems:
Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring systems and equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair single- and 3-phase systems up to 600 volts. Use testing equipment (e.g., volt-ohm meter) and tracing techniques to locate problems. Test and replace circuit breakers, bulbs, ballasts, switches, and receptacles as needed. Verify motor operation by measuring current and test emergency lighting and battery systems. - 20% - Essential - Electrical Construction:
Read and interpret construction drawings (blueprints) to perform electrical tasks. Layout and install electrical conduit, switches, receptacles, lights, and other equipment. - 10% - Essential - Training and Mentorship:
Lead, guide, and/or train other electricians in procedures and techniques. Complete required training and testing to maintain licensing. - 10% - Essential - Work Area Maintenance:
Prepare and clean work areas, shops, and vehicles. Gather tools and materials and maintain good housekeeping. - 5% - Essential - Safety:
Promote a safe workplace and safe practices. Comply with OSHA mandates, the University LOTO policy, NEC rules, and related training. Foster positive relationships within and between shops.
- Education:
High school diploma and experience in construction or repair of electrical systems. Relevant experience may substitute for the diploma on a year-for-year basis.
- Education:
Vocational or technical training;
Trade school diploma or five years of Clemson electrical experience. - Licenses:
Plumber – Journeyman - Work Experience:
5+ years
- Firm Job Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures; ability to apply in varied situations.
- Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, occasional weekends; standard hours 40 per week. - Work Environment:
Various physical requirements and exposure to heat, cold, dust/fumes, moisture, noise, vibration, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, radiant energy, burn hazards, and possible overnight travel.
Expected Salary Range: $39,764 – $45,125. Salary is dependent on experience and Clemson compensation guidelines.
