Job Summary

Collecting data for publication and completing an invited manuscript with a due date in February. Conducting experiments on the Raman spectrometer. Chemical research in uranyl ligand design. Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties
  • 40% - Essential - Conducting experiments on the Raman spectrometer. These tasks involve the preparation of the samples, programming the instrument, and collecting the data.
  • 40% - Essential - Evaluate literature reports and analyze the collected data to supplement existing database. Candidate is expected to provide insights based on the results obtained.
  • 20% - Essential - Communicate findings in written form through preparation of manuscripts for publication.
Minimum Requirements

Education - A high school diploma and work experience in a related health care setting or in a clinical or research laboratory setting; or 12 semester hours of academic training in biology and/or chemistry; or registration as a Certified Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent registry; or successful completion of a formal program of instruction for laboratory assistants at a hospital or academic institution.

Work Experience 0+ years

Preferred Requirements

Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree - Chemistry or related field

Work Experience 1+ years in actinide ligand design and coordination chemistry

Responsibilities

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations

Supervisory Responsibilities

No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

Budgetary Responsibilities

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

Physical Requirements
  • 20% - Stand for prolonged period
  • 30% - Use hands or feet to operate or handle machinery, equipment, etc
  • 20% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself
  • 10% - Recognize or inspect visually
  • Extends hands or arms in any direction

Required to stand at bench to carry out scientific manipulations with hands and to observe outcomes of these manipulations; required to write up manuscripts with scientific results.

Working Conditions

40% - Chemical hazards

Work Schedule

Standard hours: 37.5

Approximate dates of temporary assignment:
Jan 2026-Apr 2026

Compensation Information

Anticipated Salary Range: $14.76 - $15.00/hour

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Personnel Level

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
